Spring 2017 Express Entry Improvements: Additional points for candidates with siblings in Canada and more

Looks like it will be easier now for Express Entry applicants to get that elusive Invitation to Apply (ITA).  Changes in the Comprehensive Ranking System will be implemented starting June 6, 2017.  These changes will be favorable to French speaking applicants as well as those with siblings in Canada!

Express Entry improvements: Fall 2016

Improvements to the Express Entry system will be implemented effective November 19, 2016.  These changes will help better attract some of the best minds in the world, including former international students, experienced professionals and talented workers who will strengthen Canada’s competitiveness in the global marketplace.

These changes will affect the points to be awarded for job offer and education factors.  There will also be changes in the application process.

2016 Express Entry Rounds of Invitations

Under Express Entry, candidates who meet the criteria will be accepted into a pool of possible candidates for immigration to Canada. Candidates will be ranked against others in the pool using a point-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will regularly select the highest-ranking candidates from the pool by inviting them to apply to immigrate to Canada as permanent residents.

First Round of Express Entry Candidates Received Invitation to Apply!

Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander announced the other day that the first round of top-ranked candidates from Canada's Express Entry system were invited to apply for permanent residency.

On Saturday, January 31, 779 skilled workers, including professionals in natural and applied sciences, and industrial, electrical and construction trades, were invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada.  Each of these candidates declared that they already have a valid job offer or provincial nomination. The CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited to apply is 886 points. The highest possible score is 1,200.
