Canada introduces further restrictions on international travel | C$2,000 Mandatory Hotel Quarantine For All Arrivals

In order to protect the health and safety of Canadians, the Government of Canada is launching new measures to prevent further introduction and transmission of COVID-19 and new variants of the virus into Canada.

The new measures include:
  • A new mandatory PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing requirement at airports.
  • Traveler’s will be required to quarantine for up to three days at a designated hotel while they wait for their COVID-19 test result. The hotel costs will be at the expense of the traveler, which could cost around $2,000.
  • Transport Canada will expand the existing international flight restrictions which funnel scheduled international commercial passenger flights into four Canadian airports: MontrĂ©al-Trudeau International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, Calgary International Airport, and Vancouver International Airport

Specific details are yet to be released. If this new measure will also cover International Students, it may present a significant burden to students. We will keep you posted.

CAD 1,500 Subsidy from Acsenda School of Management and Arbutus College

In the event that International Students will be required to pay additional accommodation charges while awaiting the test result, Arbutus College and Acsenda School of Management will provide a grant of up to $1,500 to help with these additional hotel costs.
