IRCC News Release: https://www.canada.ca/en/transport-canada/news/2021/01/government-of-canada-introduces-further-restrictions-on-international-travel.html
The new measures include:
- A new mandatory PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing requirement at airports.
- Traveler’s will be required to quarantine for up to three days at a designated hotel while they wait for their COVID-19 test result. The hotel costs will be at the expense of the traveler, which could cost around $2,000.
- Transport Canada will expand the existing international flight restrictions which funnel scheduled international commercial passenger flights into four Canadian airports: Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, Calgary International Airport, and Vancouver International Airport
Specific details are yet to be released. If this new measure will also cover International Students, it may present a significant burden to students. We will keep you posted.
