Biometrics requirement for applicants from the Philippines

Starting December 31, 2018, applicants from the Philippines will now be required to give biometrics as part of the visa application process.

What is Biometrics?

Biometrics is the measurement and statistical analysis of people's unique physical and behavioral characteristics. The technology is mainly used for identification and access control, or for identifying individuals who are under surveillance.

How to give your biometrics
There is detailed process in the IRCC website.  You will get the Biometrics Instruction Letter after you paid the biometrics fee:
  • Individual applicant: CAD $85
  • Families applying at the same time: maximum total fee of CAD $170
  • Groups of 3 or more performing artists and their staff who apply for work permits at the same time: maximum total fee of $CAD 255
This will be an added process which may cause delay in the visa application process. You should file your application early!
