Important information for Haitian-Canadians about using immigration consultants
The Government of Canada is concerned that members of the Haitian-Canadian community are being misled that a paid immigration consultant can speed up the arrival of their loved ones from Haiti.
CIC is expediting immigration applications for Haitians with close family members in this country. No immigration consultant can speed up this process.
If you choose to hire a consultant, your application will not be given special attention or processed faster.[Source]
The only representatives who may charge a fee to represent or advise you on immigration and refugee matters with the Government of Canada are:
lawyers who are members in good standing of a Canadian provincial or territorial law society Immigration consultants who are members in good standing of the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (CSIC), and notaries who are members in good standing of the Chambre des notaires du Québec
It was April 2004 when Citizenship and Immigration Canada issued regulations on immigration representatives. But several years prior to that regulation, Canadian Immigration Consultancy already had Atty John Wiesdorf, a Canada Immigration Lawyer and in good standing with the Canadian Law Society of Upper Canada (Membership No.08162L). That said, Canadian Immigration Consultancy is authorized to represent you.
The Government of Canada will not deal with non-authorized representatives who charge a fee for their service. Deal with Canada Immigration Lawyers and legitimate consulting firms only! Don't wast your time and money.
