[Mr. Apol Apuntar, the De leon Family and Mr. Jay Araneta]
Mrs. De Leon, a public school teacher, was the principal applicant. It took four years before they finally received their permanent resident visa, but it's all worth it. After all, they decided to file an application four years ago thinking about their future. And that future is now. They will now be entitled to Canada's government benefits!
It's all about timely decision and commitment.
Under the current immigration regulations, there are no restricted occupations. But before the new Immigration and Refugee Protection Act came into effect on June 2002, teachers were included in the restricted occupations, which are considered ineligible to apply under the skilled worker program. Immigration regulations change and the longer you delay your decision to apply, the more you are risking your eligibility.
And now, with the proposed amendment to modernize the immigration system, there are speculations that some occupations may be restricted again.
If you want to live and work in Canada, too, you have to decide now while condition may still be favorable for you.
